DIY: Simple video on screenprint

As with whole the Do It Yourself (DIY) ethos in our underground/punk/hardcore/etc etc scene, I here post a video that I find useful in presenting the methods of the art of printing in such simplistic manner.  As there are also many who asked me before this and some stating the intention to learn the method from me, I embed this video here so that all of you out there could jumpstart your experimentation.  Here it goes:

Most of the things could be obtain from art supplies stores.  At KL I got it from a shop callVenus Art somewhere along Petaling Street  but it was closed when I went there yesterday.  As a result, I got a jar (1 kilogramme) of the photo emulsion (that’s the blue coloured liquid that 5t311a spread on the silkscreen) for RM 20.00 Brand: Fairbro at a shop called Art Friend at the Gardens- the new Midvalley wing.  My friend told me that there are some place at Cheras where they sell it for cheaper.  At Kuching, the only shop I know so far is Technografik at Satok, but I am pretty sure there is always a not-so-well-known shop somewhere that would sell it way cheaper, at wholesale price.  Will be glad if anyone of you out there could share where to source the things, including the dye, the silk etc, at a cheaper price- be it at KL, Kuching, Sarawak, KK or Sabah, or anywhere in Malaysia.

One last note; most of the things that you need to use to make this are easily available around your environment for e.g. the frame of your block (some even say that you could use normal cloth to replace the synthetic silk- I haven’t experiment with that yet.  Recycle rather than buying the bulk of things to start it without an certainty on your capital invested will bear any fruit.  And most of all, remember to have fun.

Yes yes yes yes, we will have a band from Australia called Not OK here on 20th February with a mad supporting electro act by a one man band who call himself mindfuckingboy.  So, you can start making your stuffs to be sold at the gig later- we will provide some space for distros- who are always welcomed!

Sorry for the late update on this. I am Chinese-New-Year-ing

The KK guys are really effective when it comes to gig organising.  Now we at Kuching are still unconfirmed in terms of venue, though the show will be on the 20th February.  Stay tuned.

A little update..

What we are doing now:  Petrajaya HC Collective is now actively (and desperately) seeking venue to host a punk rock band from Gold Coast, Australia and a uber-experimental electro guy from Singapore.  More updates and flyers be up here soon.  Gig will be somewhere in the end of February. No, we did not abandon this blog.

I (Agent Asparagus Alfalfa) will be going to KL soon and you can be sure there will be more new releases and other merchs be made available by Midin Distro soon.  We also manage to get a few more new ‘zines to be distro-ed here and also thanks to Niesa assault, Mass Separation tunes from Split with SMG (Self Made God) and Auktion would also be made available in Kuching soon- In forms of CD-R. At minimal price.

OK, the poll has shown that many of you wants to read this blog in Sarawak Malay. So those who voted for that should be the ones to write in Sarawak Malay so that there are more content of that language here in this blog. Kamik sik pandei menar mok klaka/tulis Melayu Sarawak. Sik dapat kamik express to the fullest bah mun tulis dalam Melayu Sarawak. Faham sik?

So as you can see from the pics above, in case you don’t know yet even in a small scene gossip circle like ours, we met an accident on the way back from Sibu.  So there are a lot of messiness, bullshit and greed attached with it, though I am glad that none of us were injured- to think about how the accident happened, it could be WORSE.  I am glad how it happened.

Sorry for the late reply, but then again I am not your shitworker to update you with stuffs happening around here.  You should write demmit!  I just came back from another roadtrip, though a bit shaken from the accident that happened at the first roadtrip.  Very busy at the moment with work, so I hoping someone else would write the gig report/tour diary.  Maybe the writer from this blog?

All in we would like to thank Arthur, Haizam and friends (from Radioholic) for organising the gig.  It was nice to establish such network and solidarity among the scenes here in Sarawak or even Borneo.  Good job guys (and gals), all of us in Kuching wish to see all of you again, on different stage, different gig, surely, in the future.
